Carnac
Discovery
Carnac, set between the Gulf of Morbihan and the Quiberon Peninsula, is known for its fine sand beaches and is world-renowned for its standing stones.
An extraordinary concentration of stone circles
Brittany has many megalithic stone sites, and Carnac, with thousands of menhirs and dolmens, is one of the most incredible. Erected in 4,500 BCE, the largest preserved megalithic site in Europe, Carnac is still being studied by archaeologists today.
