A historical discovery

Olbia, meaning "the blessed" in ancient Greek, was a Greek colony founded in Massilia (Marseilles) around 325 BC. Archaeological excavations have revealed that the population's primary vocation was to secure maritime trade on the Mediterranean. In fact, Olbia was a colony of farmers, fishermen and soldiers whose main aim was to protect trade.

Discovered in the 20th century, numerous Greek and Roman remains have come to light, including shops and settlements. In addition, the ruins of the medieval abbey of Saint Pierre de l'Almanarre have also been discovered on the site, enriching our understanding of the region's history.
