The Landes Amazon, a feeling at the end of the world
Set off on an adventure amidst dunes, rivers, lakes and oceans. The choice is yours: hike a 2-hour trail through the heart of nature, or hop aboard a galupe - a small traditional boat from Lac de Léon - to explore the area.
This picturesque site, set in the heart of the Landes landscape, will appeal to walkers and hikers alike. Once there, there are several walks on offer (2h, 3h, 4h in July and August). Within the 617 hectares of the reserve, it is possible to distinguish very different ecological entities: the Etang de Léon and its banks, the marshes of the Pipe and the Cost de Montagne, the Courant d'Huchet and its banks, as well as the maritime pine forest and the coastal dune.
The Pont de Pichelèbe has always been the starting point for guided or self-guided walks. The most unusual itinerary is the "Pichelèbe / La Nasse" route, which features deciduous vegetation lining the river to form a gallery forest: bald cypress, cork oak, etc.
