The largest artificial forest in Western Europe
The Landes forest already existed around 2,000 years ago, but it was mainly found on the coast. Its expansion did not come about naturally: it is the result of man-made planting of maritime pines, the tree that essentially makes up the Landes de Gascogne forest.
Today, this forest is used for timber production and supplies a large, diversified and constantly evolving processing industry.
During your stay, don't miss the chance to explore this exceptional environment on foot or by bike. Relaxing walks in the shade of the pines, observing and listening to nature. Don't forget to explore the rivers and streams hidden away in the heart of the forest, and take a break on the fine sandy beaches to unwind.
