Lilleau des Niges
Discovery
Ile de Ré is a true paradise of nature and a bird-watching hotspot in France.
France’s bird-watching hotspot
The Lilleau des Niges Nature Preserve occupies an area of 121 hectares on the north side of the Île-de-Ré that was once salt marshes, a true paradise of biodiversity. An important migration route in Europe, the preserve hosts tens of thousands of birds each year. You might come face-to-face with a shelduck or common tern while walking or cycling.
